12th African CemenTrade Conference

Arab Swiss Engineering Company (ASEC) was interested in participating in the 12th African CemenTrade Conference, that was held in Côte d'Ivoire on the 21st & 22nd of November, 2023, which focused on “Decarbonization of the Cement Industry in Africa”.

ASEC was represented by Mr. Ashraf El-Kahky – CEO & Managing Director and Eng. Hossam Darwish – Performance & Planning Support Director.

The conference sessions discussed the utilization of alternative fuels as a strategy for sustainable cement production in Africa, in addition to the opportunities and challenges facing progress in the cement industry.

During the conference, many cement experts from participating countries were interviewed, and the discussions that took place were about modern methods for reducing carbon emissions in the cement industry and about new technology that would make it possible to substitute clinker with calcined clay.

ASEC is keen to continuously follow up on any new advancements in the cement industry.

Qatrana Te chnical Assistance contract renewal

Arab Swiss Engineering Company “ASEC” is thrilled to announce the renewal of the Technical Assistance (TA) contract for another three years with Qatrana Cement Company, Jordan.

On Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, the celebration of the renewal took place at Qatrana’s premises, Jordan and was signed by Mr. Amer Al-Khatib, Managing Director of Qatrana, and Mr. Ashraf El-Kahky, CEO and Managing Director of ASEC, with the presence of the top management of both companies. The two parties expressed their happiness with this continued success and productive cooperation.

ASEC extends great thanks and appreciation for all the efforts made by Qatrana Cement Company to continue the successful long-term cooperation between the two companies.

ASEC has been providing technical assistance to the plant since 2010 and this contract renewal shows Qatrana Cement Company's continued confidence in the technical and managerial capabilities of ASEC.

ASEC Cement Manufacturing Course “ACMC37th” Closing day 2023

On Wednesday the 8th of November, during the closing of the 37th ACMC “ASEC Cement Manufacturing Course” a very successful learning journey was concluded with the final project discussion that included all that the participants had learned during the 35-day course; starting from quarry up to packing.

Eng. Khaled El-Sebaie, Chairman, and Mr. Ashraf El-Kahky, CEO & Managing Director, with the addition of some company directors, celebrated the course’s success. They also expressed their happiness and appreciation for the great efforts made by the training team during the course.

All the participants expressed their gratitude and the added value of the ACMC course which helped raise their efficiency and development.

Mr. El-Kahky thanked all the participants from Al-Jouf and Tabuk Cement Companies in Saudi Arabia, Wadi El Nile Cement Company in Egypt, in addition to, participants from the various projects managed by ASEC, for attending the training course.

Qarachough Cement Plant “KAR” – Iraq Technical Audit

The Plant technical audit is a service that Arab Swiss Engineering Company “ASEC” provides to its client under O & M contract in addition to other clients.

The purpose of the technical audit is to work on continuous improvement of the cement plants KPIs.

Technical Center in ASEC Company conducted the technical Audit for Qarachough Cement Plant “KAR” – Iraq, which ASEC has been operating and maintaining since 2019.

The audit was conducted on the cement production line including the vertical roller mill “VRM”, kiln and cement vertical mill, followed by a meeting with the plant managers to provide recommendations for optimization.

ASEC is always seeking continuous improvement through process optimization in the cement plants.

Qatrana Visit

Arab Swiss Engineering Company “ASEC” is keen on the continuous presence of the company’s Management at its different project locations for proper on-ground follow-up of work progress and to listen to the requests and concerns of the employees at these different locations.

Mr. Ashraf El-Kahky, CEO & Managing Director, and Eng. Emam Ibrahim, Overseas Operations Director, visited our project Qatrana Cement Company, in Jordan, where they conducted a tour of the plant to inspect workflow.

Fruitful and interactive discussions took place with an emphasis on highlighting the requirements of ASEC’s staff.

Employees are a company’s main asset, which is why health is a top priority at Arab Swiss Engineering Company “ASEC”.

Human Resources Department at (ASEC) held a comprehensive medical examination day under the slogan (#صحتك_تهمنا) presented in cooperation with Smart Medical Services Company, Royal Lab, and Al Salam Hospital.

ASEC invited the employees to participate in an examination of the heart, bones, abdomen, nose and ear, analysis of a complete blood picture, measurement of blood pressure and blood sugar, and other tests that help in the early detection of any health problems and in order to provide the necessary care.

The initiative took place at ASEC headquarters and is being prepared to be implemented in all projects managed by ASEC as a way to raise health awareness and encourage employees to take care of their personal health.

Celebration of SWCC contract renewal

With the continued cooperation between the Arab Swiss Engineering Company (ASEC) and Sinai White Cement Company, the two companies celebrated with their employees the contract renewal. The ceremony took place in Sinai premise in Arish.

Top management of the both companies have attended the ceremony, and they exchanged discussions about the achievements that have been reached due technical and managerial capabilities of ASEC in addition to the spirit of cooperation and participation with the management of Sinai White Cement.

This celebration is a good opportunity for effective communication between management and employees, appreciating the site's achievements, and raising the morale of employees in the both companies.

Establish a company branch in Iraq

In a new step for the continuous expansion of the Arab Swiss Engineering Company "ASEC" in the Arab world, the company has started to establish a branch in the Kurdistan, Iraq, besides the company's branches in Dubai (UAE) and Amman (Jordan) in addition to the company's headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.

Since ASEC inception in 1975, the long and diversified experience has helped to provide engineering consultancy for the construction of new cement plants and upgrading existing plants. Furthermore, ASEC provides operation, maintenance and technical support services for the cement industry and various industries to serve investment and urban expansion plans in Arab and African countries.

It is worth noting that the success that ASEC is proud of is the result of cooperation between its technical staff and the Owner’s technical staff. The company works to maintain the trust and confidence of its existing clients and gain the same of new clients. The company maintains its policy of empowering the Owner’s technical staff and cooperating with them to achieve the Owner’s management objectives.

The incorporation procedures were launched during the periodic routine follow-up visit by Mr. Ashraf El-Kahky, CEO & Managing Director, and some of the company directors, where they visited KAR Cement plant, which ASEC has an operation and maintenance contract since 2019.

SWCC Technical Assistance contract renewal

Arab Swiss Engineering Company (ASEC) and Sinai White Cement Company (SWCC) celebrated the renewal of the Technical Assistance (TA) contract for another three years.

Within the framework of cooperation with the National Cement Company - Libya, the Arab Swiss Engineering Company, “ASEC” has received and welcomed Mr. Mustafa Abu Bakr - Chairman, Mr. Mohamed Farag - CEO and a number of Plant Managers’, where the delegates visited Wadi El Nile Cement Plant, on April 29, 2023, which ASEC is operating since 2021.

ASEC returns to operation of BMIC plant near Assuit. Arab Swiss Engineering Company “ASEC” has been honored with a 2 - year contract, after the first phase of preparation, for the operation and maintenance of the cement plant owned by Building Material Industries Company (BMIC) – Assuit.

Previously, ASEC had the responsibility of technical management for the plant during the period of 2011 until 2019.

Egyptian Cement Company, Suhag

The Arab Swiss Engineering Company “ASEC” has signed a consultancy services contract with the Egyptian Cement Company in Suhag to use alternative fuels for their production line. Participation in this project is the Egyptian Cement Company’s method of contribution to the Egyptian governments efforts in reducing carbon dioxide and moving towards the use of clean energy.

In addition to clean energy, ASEC’s contract includes supervision of the construction of two new cement silos for factory expansion to produce different types of cement, such as low-carbon cement.

ASEC and Qatrana Cement Extend O&M Contract

Erbil, Iraq, September 2021

ASEC, the regional leader in cement engineering, operation and maintenance solutions, and the Jordanian cement producer, Qatrana Cement Company, announced the extension of the O&M contract for an additional 3 years.

The collaboration started back in 2010 where partners have entered into an O&M agreement and ASEC was entrusted with the full responsibility of the operation and maintenance of Qatrana Cement plant from raw material crushing up to cement dispatch. The plant comprises of one production line with annual production capacity of 1.5 Mtpy and it is located in Qatrana, Jordan.

Under the patronage of his royal highness, Prince Naif bin Sultan bin Saud Al Kabeer, Chairman of AUCBM board and Dr. Hassan Rateb, Vice Chairman of AUCBM board, Cairo hosted the 24 th Arab International Cement Conference and Exhibition from 24 – 26 November, 2019.

Organized by the Arab Union for Cement and Building Materials and sponsored by ASEC, the prestigious event accommodated more than 500 delegates while the exhibiting companies exceeded 100.

During the 3-day conference, along with the diamond sponsorship, ASEC co-chaired the conference's first session as well as presenting two papers. ASEC's reliability maintenance expert, Eng. Yahia Ali offered the attendees an in-depth troubleshooting process for an early failure of a main drive gearbox in a vertical cement mill in one of ASEC's projects in Africa; while the technical training and energy efficiency expert, Eng. Samir Khafagui, discussed the gains reaped from manpower development and empowerment on the long-term cost optimization and on boasting business' KPIs in the second paper titled "Continuous Cost Optimization, Manpower Development and Empowerment". The papers were well received by the conference attendees.

ASEC Signs a 3-year O&M Contract Extension with Sinai White Cement Company

Erbil, Iraq, September 2019

ASEC, the leading O&M operator in the MEA region, announced the renewal of its Technical Management contract with Sinai White Cement Company till December 2022. The two-line cement facility has a total capacity of 2'800 tpd of clinker, located in North Sinai, Egypt.

ASEC and Sinai White’s two-decade collaboration started back in 1999 when ASEC was assigned as the consultant of choice for the first white cement production line in Sinai. KAR Group Entrusts ASEC with Technical Management and Manpower Development of its Cement Facility in Erbil, Iraq

Erbil, Iraq, September 2019

ASEC and the Iraqi conglomerate KAR Group have signed a 3-year agreement for the operation and maintenance of Qarachough Cement Plant ; a 1.9 mtpa facility owned by the Iraqi conglomerate near Erbil city, Iraq.

Earlier this year, ASEC has assisted KAR in the selection and recruitment of domestic calibers followed by designing and executing extensive tailored manpower development programs. This agreement perfectly ties in with the manpower development scope as ASEC takes over the responsibility of driving the plant's operational excellence while it continues to foster the technical competence of the domestic calibers. It is worth noting that the plant handover, from its former operator, has been successfully accomplished and the operation is advancing with a steady progress.

Commenting on the completion of the plant's handing-over, Eng. Khaled El Sebaie, ASEC's chairman and managing director, said, "We are thrilled with the growing partnership with KAR Group, and we believe the successful handover and steady operational progress is largely attributed to the mutual trust and perfect alliance."

18 Years and Counting; ASEC Renews its Technical Management Contract with Misr Beni Suef Cement Company

Cairo, April 2019

ASEC announced the renewal of its Technical Management contract with Misr Beni Suef Cement Company till December 2023. The signing of the contract stands as a testimony of the long-standing trust and partnership between the two companies.

Entrusted with the technical management of the first production line in 2001, ASEC has sustained the production level above the nominal capacity. The year 2007 saw the first renewal of the contract for additional five years, adding as well a second line to ASEC’s operation and maintenance scope. Worth mentioning that the annual combined capacity of the two lines now stands at 3.1 Mt.

“We owe this long-term alliance to the dedication and efficiency of our staff members and evenly to the continuous support from our client. ASEC Signs a Protocol with the Iraqi Group KAR for Manpower Technical Development

Cairo, April 2019

In continuation of its role in fostering the technical skills of the cement calibers across the region, ASEC Academy has entered into a protocol with the Iraqi conglomerate KAR Group for manpower technical development, at its subsidiary, Qarachog Cement plant, in Erbil, Iraq.

The cooperation protocol aims at the technical development of domestic calibers of engineers, chemists, and technicians. This will be done through providing tailored programs, blending technological theory with best practices in cement manufacturing process and optimization. ASEC Academy will utilize both in-class and on-the-job training, in addition to simulator training for mill and kiln operators. A pool of the company’s experts and instructors from various specialties will support the development program, either through tutoring or supervising the onsite sessions.

It is worth noting that ASEC Academy has been collaborating with the Iraqi cement companies since 2005.

ASEC Joins the Arab Forum for Reconstruction Held in Lebanon

Beirut, June 2019

Organized by the Arab Union for Cement and Building Materials and sponsored by some of the major players in the Arab nation, the Lebanese capital hosted “The Arab Forum for Reconstruction" on the 17th and 18th of June, 2019. The forum offered an insight on the industry's current challenges and presented a roadmap to get the war-affected countries back on track of reconstruction and economic development.

ASEC, as the Arab house of expertise to the cement industry, has presented its perspective on the challenges presently facing the industry. Eng. Wasseem Abdalla, the company's Business Development Director, addressed the subject of the optimization of operational and manpower cost, which has turned to be indispensable for the survival of any cement producer amid intense competition.

ASEC Returns to the Sudanese Market

Arab Swiss Engineering Company “ASEC” and the Sudanese producer, Al-Takamol Cement Company, have announced signing a 3-year agreement for the operation and maintenance of Al-Takamol Cement Plant, a 1.6 mtpa facility, located north of Khartoum city, Sudan.

In 2009, the collaboration between ASEC and Al-Takamol has seen its robust debut when partners signed the first operation and maintenance agreement. ASEC was entrusted with the technical management of the state-of-the-art facility till 2011 when the plant shifted to self-operation

Commenting on the renewed cooperation with Al-Takamol, ASEC's managing director, Eng.
